01Who is responsible

The controller of the data processed on this site is Lucas Strabelli Eiras. For any privacy question or to exercise your rights, contact us at lucas@coverguesser.com.

02What data we process and why

PcBuilder is a component comparator. We do not ask for registration, name, email or payment details.

  • Data stored in your browser (local storage). The theme you chose, favourite parts, saved computers and your cookie choice stay only on your device; they are not sent to us. Legal basis: necessity to provide the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR and Art. 5(3) of Portuguese Law 41/2004).
  • Catalogue searches. When you search or open a category, your browser requests the parts from our server. These requests are not linked to you and we do not keep your search history.
  • Hosting technical logs. Our hosting provider may temporarily record technical data about requests (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operation. Legal basis: legitimate interest in keeping the site secure (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Offer clicks. When you click an offer, we count only the total number of clicks per offer per day. We do not store IP, name or individual history.
  • Visit statistics (Google Analytics). Only with your consent — see section 4. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.

03Cookies and local storage

When you enter the site, we ask for your choice. Analytics cookies stay off until you accept them, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.

You can change your mind at any time:

When you withdraw consent, the _ga cookies are deleted from this site. You can also clear local storage in your browser settings.

04Google Analytics 4

If you accept the Analytics category, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the site, which pages are viewed most and from what kind of device. We use Google Consent Mode v2: without your consent, the Google tag is not loaded and no data is sent.

  • Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses.
  • We do not enable advertising signals, remarketing or data sharing for ads.
  • Data is kept for at most 14 months and then deleted automatically.

4AAdvertising (Google AdSense)

To keep PcBuilder free, the site may show ads through Google AdSense (Google Ireland Limited).

  • Google and its partners use cookies to show ads, limit how many times you see the same ad and measure results. With your consent, they may also show personalised ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
  • Before advertising cookies are used, your consent is requested through a Google-certified consent message (IAB TCF standard). If you refuse, non-personalised ads may be shown, which use cookies only to limit frequency, for aggregate reporting and to combat fraud.
  • You can manage or turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings and at youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Learn more at How Google uses cookies in advertising and How Google uses data from partner sites.

Ads are identified as such and are independent of the comparisons: advertisers do not influence PcBuilder's estimates or recommendations.

05Affiliate links and Amazon

As an Amazon Associate, PcBuilder earns from qualifying purchases. Some links on the site (for example the “amazon” buttons) are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may receive a commission, at no extra cost to you.

  • Comparisons, estimates and recommendations are not paid for by shops. We give display priority to parts with an available purchase link, but search results also include parts without a link.
  • When you click a shop link, you leave PcBuilder. From then on the shop's privacy and cookie policy applies (for example Amazon's), and it may record the visit to attribute the commission.
  • The prices shown are approximate and may change. The valid price and conditions are those shown by the shop at the time of purchase.

06Sharing and international transfers

We do not sell or rent personal data. We use providers that process data on our behalf, with the safeguards required by the GDPR:

  • Google Ireland Limited — visit statistics and advertising (AdSense), depending on your consent.
  • Vercel Inc. — site hosting.
  • Neon — parts catalogue database (it holds no personal data of visitors).

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, notably in the USA. In those cases, transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

07How long we keep data

  • Local storage: stays on your device until you delete it.
  • Google Analytics: up to 14 months.
  • Advertising cookies (AdSense): up to 13 months, or until you withdraw consent.
  • Offer click counts: aggregated daily totals, with no personal data.
  • Messages you email us: as long as needed to reply to you.

08Your rights

Under the GDPR, you can at any time request access, rectification or erasure of your data, restriction of processing, portability, object to processing and withdraw consent, without affecting processing done before. To do so, contact us at lucas@coverguesser.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD) or with the data protection authority of your country.

The site is not intended for children under 16 and does not knowingly collect data from minors.

09Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If changes affect the use of cookies, we will ask for your choice again.

This policy is informational and was prepared for the site's current operation. Review by a professional is recommended before commercial launch.
